Gay Friendly Vacations in San Diego, California

Crystal blue skies and comfortable temperatures almost all year around, San Diego is a wonderful destination for a vacation spot. Despite a highly military presence, San Diego is openly welcome of the LGBT crowd. With so much to see and do, one would have to take a week or longer to see everything.

The two largest accommodations are with the Embassy Suites. Downtown sits across from Seaport Village and boasts 200+ suites, while La Jolla sits across from University Towne Centre and boasts 300+ suites. Each specific location can be viewed as well as booked at www.embassysuites.com. Their prices are reasonable and the staff friendly. Each is also gay-owned and operated.

Now that you have settled down and are looking for things to do, it would be hard pressed to know where to start. San Diego is moments away from sandy beaches to gorgeous mountain views. San Diego's highest and most well known attractions are:

1. Seaport Village: a world in and of itself. With small quant shops, and eateries. One can see Coronado Island and the ships docked there. There are also art galleries that portray wildlife and are available for purchase. To bring out the kid in everyone, they have a carousal that is a throw back of the olden days and is still a joy to ride even in this high tech era.

2. Sea World: Home of Shamu. See sea life frolic about and enjoy cooling sea breezes from one of the many restaurants and take in a few shows from Shamu to the sea lion show. The ride of Atlantis will take your breath away and make you want to go back again and again.

3. San Diego Zoo: Known throughout the world and home to over 3,000 species of animals from the smallest insects to tower giraffes and the adorable pandas. Take a ride on the sky coaster to get a full view of the park and downtown. Hard to believe that sometime so grand is only moments away from busy city life.

4. Balboa Park: After your jaunt through the zoo, head over to Balboa Park for its museums and park. A quiet place that reflects the relaxed, laid back style that is San Diego.

5. Old Town: Learn about San Diego's history and stroll along six city blocks of missions, shops and restaurants. Old town is home to the infamous Whaley House which is one of America's most haunted places.

6. San Diego Wild Animal Park: Direct descent from the San Diego Zoo, see animals roam about in 100+ acres of land while you take the monorail through. It is the closest you can get without have to purchase tickets to Africa. The bird and butterfly exhibits welcome you into gentle forests where these creatures come to life.

7. Legoland: Bring back memories of playing with legos when you were a child as you stroll through cities and exhibits made entirely of legos. It is a marvel of building that one had only hoped to achieve when they were surrounded by their own lego pieces.

Nightlight in San Diego can be found in the Gaslamp section of downtown from dining to clubs, it boasts its own "rodeo drive" between 4th and 5th avenue. Hillcrest has the most openly gay owned and operated establishments from antiques to dining and dancing. Hillcrest is also host to the annual Gay Pride Parade with happens every June and is the final big bang of a week long celebration.

With so much to see and do, come to San Diego and fall in love all over again.
