Heather Kincaid
The United States has several destinations for gay/lesbian singles and couples. It can be hard to find the perfect city to visit when you're interested in gay culture, but the following two cities are the best when it comes to the "fruity" stuff! When traveling to these spots, it's good to know what there is to do in these areas. Read on to find out where some of the most popular gay tourist cities are and what there is to do in each one.

Key West, Florida - Commonly known as the "Gay Capital of the World", Key West is home to a very prominent gay community. They are home to the Nation's only gay trolley tour, and have several gay-friendly accommodations. These accommodations include Alexander's Guesthouse (305-294-9919) and Big Ruby's Guesthouse (305-296-2323). Key West is home to tons of gay/lesbian clubs and bars, that include Aqua Nightclub, KWEST Men, La Te Da, Pearls Patio For Women, and Durty Harry's. There are tons of events that take place in Key West during the year. Fantastyfest is one that is coming up. October 23 - November 1st, Key West and the tourists who come from all over celebrate Halloween in a rather interesting way. Think of it as Mardi Gras for Florida. San Francisco, California - San Francisco is another popular gay/lesbian destination. This city is VERY popular for gay and lesbian couples because over 3,300 same sex couples have been married in San Francisco's City Hall. It is a very historic city for this very reason. The weather is great and there are tons of things to do aimed towards the gay / lesbian community. Hotel Tomo is a very popular gay hotel, and if you use the code gaytravel while booking your reservation, you can receive a hefty discount off your stay. Asia District is a GREAT restaurant that is very gay friendly! They have wonderful food and awesome prices. When visiting San Francisco, make sure you check out the Castro District. The Castro District is the epicenter for all things gay in San Francisco. Also, check out Baker Beach! Baker Beach is a clothing optional beach for gays and lesbians ... making it a fun trip for all. The nightlife is booming in San Francisco! Make sure you check out Daddy's, Martuni's, Kimo's, and N'Touch!
