GE® 3.2 Cu. Ft. Super Capacity Washer Product Review

First off, I do not expect a lot from a washing machine. Pretty much I just want to dump all the clothes in, then add a little detergent, maybe some bleach, hit start and pull the clean clothes out a short while later. Otherwise I am not into the "bells & whistles" which a lot of people find attractive these days. I reckon I am just a bit old fashioned. I tend to wash everything on a "cold" setting. This conserves electricity since cold water will actually wash clothes as well as hot water and takes a lot less power to heat.

This said, when I last needed a washing machine for my family I purchased a GE 3.2 Cu. Ft. Super Capacity Washer. It seemed to fit the bill, having a large capacity bin and not a lot of "bells & whistles" to get in the way. It is fairly straight forward and simple. The price was not too bad either (around $400 at Lowes).

The GE Super Capacity Washer has been reliable but it does have an annoying tendency to "walk" across the floor, on spin cycle, no matter how carefully it is loaded. This is despite the fact that it is advertised as being "self stabilizing." I have made certain to level the machine with the adjustable feet but it will still get carried away at times and can be very annoying.

Also, when the machine is running it just does not seem to be running "right." I cannot put my finger on it and the machine does get the clothes washed but something just seems wrong. I realize this is not a very clear observation on my part but it is, none the less, true.

All of that aside, again I must point out that, having had the machine for about a year now, it has proven reliable. It does have a good sized capacity and is easy too use. Even my teenaged daughter has been able to figure it out with the basic clothes washing directions printed under the top. Mine came in basic white, as I feel all proper appliances should be, and it does look good aesthetically.

GE is a good named brand and that had a lot to do with my decision to purchase this machine. I am anticipating many years of good service from it. Overall, I have been satisfied so far despite the Super Capacity Washers' shortcomings.
