GE Coffee Maker Recall

GE coffee maker recall warnings grabbed my attention. After having two coffee makers self-destruct in the past year, I decided to check the GE coffee maker recall to see if it pertained to my model. (No, I don't think they gave out because I drink too much joe!)

Anyway, the GE coffee maker recall pertains to nearly 1 million General Electric coffee makers sold at Walmart. Now I'm really paying attention because I purchased my last coffee maker from Walmart. It started steaming one day so I decided to put it to rest. I bought a cheap model from the Family Dollar that's been working well ever since.

Back to the GE coffee maker recall. The recall is for a GE 12-cup digital coffee maker that is sold exclusively at Walmart. Since mine was not a digital model, it is not part of the GE coffee maker recall. (I guess I can finally throw it out now.)

The GE coffee maker recall involves nearly 900,000 coffee makers. At this point, the Consumer Product Safety Commission received 83 complaints about the coffee makers. One kitchen fire is blamed on the coffee maker. Three more people suffered from minor burns.

The GE coffee makers were also allegedly responsible for property damage to fixtures such as countertops, cabinets and walls.

If you own a GE 12-cup digital coffee maker sold exclusively at Walmart, you are advised to stop using it right away. You can return the coffee maker to any Walmart store to receive a full refund.
