The job is the same as the customer service agents that work at their various on-site locations. As a home agent you will be answering inbound calls from stores and customers regarding credit card purchases. You will definitely need a quiet environment.
I use to work for this company at one of their on-site locations about 15 years ago and I can tell you the work is not difficult but it can get busy, especially around the holidays with people using their credit cards to make purchases. You'll hear everything from, "I didn't know I had a credit limit" to "Can't you allow me to charge this $500 item, although I have no credit left." It gets to be pretty interesting during the holidays.
The downside to this work at home job is that GE doesn't hire nationwide, they only hire in certain parts of the country for this work at home position, which includes Kansas, Charlotte, NC, Dayton, OH, Salt Lake City, Tampa, Tempe, AZ, Orange County, CA, St. Petersburg, FL, Frisco, TX, St. Paul, MN, and Edmonton, Canada. I believe you need to live within 50 miles of these locations to qualify but you may want to contact the company to verify the actual distance.
You will be an employee of GE, however, at this moment there is a limit on the amount of hours available per week- you can only work a maximum of 15 hours unless it is a busy time of year for them. Your shift will be three hours a day, Monday thru Friday, with different shifts available throughout the day to choose from. You will also be required to work one weekend day every week.
The pay is $12.15 per hour and the company provides a 401K plan for part-time employees. GE also provides an extensive training period that last approximately 15 days or three weeks. You will train at home and on-site. On-site training is full-time days Monday thru Friday. Be prepared to have a fairly new and a working computer. You may need enough memory and space on your computer. You may also need either a second line with no options or at least not have the call waiting feature on your phone.
GE is, or at least, use to be pretty tight with attendance and dependability, so you want to be sure you can devote the necessary time to this job. I believe this is a very good part-time work from home opportunity for the right person.
