Gears of War: An Action Shooter Game

Gears of War, an action shooter game developed by Epic games and published by Microsoft in 2006. This game is most likely one of the best games released next to some other games for the Xbox 360. The developers used a new form of game-play for GOW, they used a new system for their shooting tossing this game out away from all other 3^rd person shooters and it is that game-play that makes GOW stand out amongst all others.

GOW uses a system that is basically pop and shoot, you pop out from behind cover and shoot, just like the name says. This allows for you to hide behind structures like fallen pillars or stacked up sandbags and hold your gun out over the edge and shoot. This feature comes into play and is essential in Single-player as well as Multi-player combat situations.

The game also allows for you to play Co-op online and offline, meaning that it is one of the only shooter games that allows for you to take the game online and play it online in campaign. The great thing about taking the game online is that the AI of the computer does not suffer at all, meaning that you will get the same challenge online as you would offline.

Now for the Multi-player aspects in the arena-combat. There are three game settings, Execution, Warzone and Assassination. Warzone is your basic team battle kill the other guys before they kill you, it still has unique qualities about it that set it apart from the other two game settings. Execution is one of the more unique game types, the only way to win is to blow the other character to shreds, blow off their head, or smash their head in when they are bleeding out (damage so much they are on the ground). Another unique feature in GOW online play is that you can be revived by your fellow teammates.

When a character is downed you have the ability to revive them before they are shot again while on the ground which would end in their death. You go through a series of rounds which make up a match, each round you get 1 life, not several like other games. Assassination is another unique game setting, your job is to seek out and kill the other teams leader, who is assigned to a specific character on each side.

Once that character is killed then you win the match and the person who killed the leader on the other team, or got the highest score for that round becomes the leader. Aside from a few glitches in online play the multiplayer is all together one of the more interesting aspects of the game in my opinion.

Overall this is one of the best games this year for the x-box 360. I fully recommend this game, but do set its age limit to 16 do to graphic content and foul language.
