Geico Insurance Beats the Rest

Geico Saved Me $500 in Premiums

Television commercials touting the benefits of switching to Geico for your insurance needs are prevalent. Their current television commercials use the statement "It's so easy even a caveman can use it."

Insurance companies seem to offer the same products on a slightly different price scale. Each state has its own liability requirements. I do not know of anyone who loves dealing with insurance agents. So, when I was in the market for a new insurance carrier for my automobile, I was not looking forward to the process. I went through the traditional high prices and qualifying criteria of a variety of insurance companies. None impressed me. None impressed me, that is, until I followed up on a Geigo mailing I received.

I called Geico at their toll-free number to get a free quote. I was shocked when I was quoted an annual premium that saved me $500 over my other insurance carrier. I was so surprised and skeptical that I asked the agent to repeat the price quote. We went over all the details of my proposed policy again and I was impressed. After deciding to go with Geico, I was hoping that the customer service and company followed through. After all, how can Geico's rates be so cheap? Maybe the reason for the low rates is the fact that customer service and claims lack substance. I have been with Geico for three years and have never regretted it.

There are a variety of reasons for me to recommend Geico. Here are just some of them:

Customer service. Whenever I have had to call Geico about my car insurance, I have received excellent service. The customer service representatives are knowledgeable and friendly. Plus, Geico provides a toll-free number.

Payment methods. Geico offers different payment options for their customers. Check, credit card, by phone, or online are all available methods of payments. That is convenient.

Advertising. Geico advertisements are both entertaining and effective. They help the company stand out in customers' minds. Even though I would not recommend an insurance company based strictly upon its marketing campaign, a strong campaign is beneficial.

No fee. When I decide to pay my bill over the phone, with an automatic bank deduction, there is no extra fee. That is nice. Many other companies charge for this. It is known as a convenience fee.

Rates. Geico bases its rates on driving records. That is the way it ought to be. Many other insurance companies base their rates on credit histories. I, personally, do not understand how someone's credit history reflects upon his or her driving record.

Contact. So far, all of my dealings with Geico have either been through the mail or over the phone. Or, I can set up an online account. There are no required trips to the insurance agent's office to take care of anything. That is another added feature, I believe.

Local office. However, if I ever need to go into my Geico insurance agent's office, there is one located in my hometown. In fact, it is conveniently located.

Policy. Geico policies, riders, and other legal documents are professional in appearance. It is obvious that Geico takes pride in its document presentation.

Diversity. In addition to offering auto insurance, Geico carries a range of insurance products.

All in all, Geico gets a thumbs up from me. I like both the gecko and the caveman. :)
