Gelatin in Vaccines
Gelatin is used in vaccines to stabilize the vaccine to protect the vaccine after it is manufactured.
Some people have allergies to Gelatin and although somewhat rare it is one of the most common identifiable allergens in vaccines. One girl suffering an anaphylactic shock within minutes of receiving her MMR said it was like what happens to her when she eats Jello. Obviously, now you know if you or your child are allergic to jello, you should not receive a vaccine that has gelatin in it.
MSDS of Gelatin indicates it to be a potential teratogenic, (can cause birth defects) and it can cause skin, respiratory, or eye irritation in powder form. Gelatin in vaccines is relatively safe as far as normal ingestion is concerned, however there is the potential of allergic reaction.
