GENDER SELECTION - Boy or Girl? Are We Playing with Nature?

I can understand, in certain circumstances, that a couple with four boys may select to go down the route of Gender Selection for that much wanted girl however, are we intefering with yet another facet of nature?

I have researched a few Gender Selection online sites and some applaud their 96 per cent accuracy on forming a boy or girl child however, is this right? Some treatments run into thousands of dollars such as medical procedures, sperm sorting, medication etc.,; however, there are sites that offer you simple and easy ways to select the sex of your baby.

I have done a little research into this area and whilst I personally do not have any prolific opinion about Gender Selection, I am highly interested in how others feel about it based on religion, nature, personal views and whether we play God in too many areas of our lives already.

Ok, so most men do not want to have to go through (PGD) Preimplantion Genetic Diagnosis (sperm sorting, artificial insemination, in vitro fertlization etc) but why has it become so important to hundreds of thousands of couples (who are not limited to a single child such as in China), to choose the sex of their newborn baby?

Gender Selection is now a multi-billion dollar industry and the rational part of me does not see anything wrong based on personal requirements however the irrational side asks "what are these companies return policies?". So, if I pay for a three month Gender Selection Kit and I am one of the 4 percent that gets the wrong gender....will they take it back? And, if they take back the children that were born (not the right sex), what will these corporations do with all of these children? Auction them?

You can now pay via credit card, email, paypal .... any way you want for the right to select whether your baby will be a boy or a girl. I just feel it takes a little bit of the fun and surprise out of such a monumental occasion. Call me old fashioned.........
