Gene Simmons Family Jewels Back for Season 2

Sunday night, March 25, A&E's original hit reality show, Gene Simmons Family Jewels premieres it's second season. In this case, dad is Gene Simmons - the legendary, tongue wagging demon of KISS. Mom is Shannon Tweed -- former Playmate of the Year, actress and model. Gene and Shannon have been happily un-married for 23 years and have no plans of getting married any time soon. They have two children, both teenagers, named Nick and Sophie.

We were introduced to this most non-traditional, traditional family in America last August. Viewers were treated to the non-Paris Hilton like lifestyle of the Simmons' kids. Which is pretty impressive when your dad, a renowned ladies man, is co-founder of one of the all time great rock-n-roll bands, KISS.

Gene is a multi-millionaire rock star and a multi-media magnate, who also happens to be the kind of dad who brings Gatorade to his daughter's soccer game and is in the front row of his son's rock band as they perform.

For her part, Shannon Tweed is the beautiful former Playmate of the Year, and mom just like every other mom across America. Grand spending sprees with Gene's credit cards not with standing. She cooks, she dotes on her man and her children, fussing at Gene to lose weight, and she shops. A lot.

What makes this family special, is that in spite of a mega mansion, multi-millions of dollars and having the coolest dad to ever don make-up, is that they are just so normal. In season one we saw Nick get his driver's license, Sophie writing a paper for school based on her parents career, and a family that actually ate dinner together.

We also saw Shannon's mounting desire to add to the Simmons family by having a baby. Something that required Gene to donate a sample of his genetic material, with cameras rolling outside the bathroom, and Gene's pending face lift.

The face lift is where last season left off, in a sort of cliff hanger. Gene and Shannon were supposed to get his and hers face lifts, but at the last minutes of the finale, Shannon announced she may be pregnant and therefore wouldn't be going under the knife. This was of course announced just as they were wheeling Gene into surgery.

Sunday nights episode picks up where the finale left off and viewers will get to see Gene's new face and find out if Shannon is indeed pregnant again. A condition which her children are less than enthusiastic about.

The second season of Gene Simmons Family Jewels starts Sunday, March 25 at 10 p.m. on A&E.
