General Motors Introduces Its "Total Confidence" Program

Putting Faith Back into GM Products

General Motors announced on Monday that they have come out with a new program to bolster consumer confidence in the struggling automaker. With this program, General Motors hopes to put an end to consumers worries on whether or not their warranty will be honored if General Motors goes out of business.

This program is called the Total Confidence program and starts April 1st.

Some of the highlights of the program are:

1. Protection for your vehicle - Any GM vehicle that is purchased is fully backed by the GM 5 year/100,000 mile Powertrain warranty. This warranty will also include:
Courtesy Transportation
Roadside Assistance
It is fully transferable
There is no deductible
No fees.
It is also backed by the New Vehicle Warranty Commitment Program that states for whatever reason GM were to go bankrupt that the U.S. Treasury Department will work with GM to safeguard the warranty.

2. Protection for Your Family - On almost any GM vehicle purchased, the customer is supported by the safety and security of OnStar. OnStar is a GM exclusive and will contain the following elements:
Remote Door Lock - if you lock your keys in the car, you call the 800 number and OnStar will unlock your doors for you.
Stolen Vehicle Notice - If your vehicle is stolen, OnStar can track the vehicle and notify the police to it's whereabouts.
Emergency and Security Services - If there is an emergency or a security concern, the customer just pushes the OnStar Button and OnStar will send help.
OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics - Your GM vehicle will run monthly diagnostic checks and send you e-mails with the results. It will also remind you of upcoming maintenance schedules.
Automatic Crash Response - In the event of a crash, built-in sensors will automatically send an alert to OnStar who will have an adviser call you to make sure everything is OK or if you need help.
Hands Free Calling Service - 30 minutes of hands free calling is included in this package.

3. Payment Protection - This part will help make payments if you should suddenly lose your job. GM will make up to 9 payments of up to $500.00 in the event you lose your job. There are a few qualifications that must be met so you should contact your local dealer to get all the perimeters.

4. Vehicle Value Protection - This is designed to protect the retail trade-in value of the vehicle in the event the customer has negative equity. Negative equity is when the customer owes more to the bank than what the car is worth. The customer can receive up to $5,000 in assistance when trading it in or up to $2,500.00 if they sell the vehicle themselves. Again, there are some qualifications that must be met for this to take effect.

With this program, General Motors hopes to boost the trust value of their company in the eyes of the consumer. With all Automotive Incentives, this program probably has a date as to when it ends. Please contact you r nearest GM dealer to get all the information on this new program.
