Generating Consistent Traffic Through Excellent Content

Raul E. Serafica
Anybody who has had some piece of the action in the fiercely competitive cyberspace should have known by now that excellent content is what makes sites "click."

It is not enough that you get satisfactory results in page ranking index of search engines. Getting traffic to your site is not your ultimate goal; generating CONSISTENT traffic is. You have to understand that all those SEO gems such as JavaScript, frames and PageRank only pave the way for potential traffic. There are other things that you must work on to attain that critical mass of traffic to your website, and this is where excellent content comes in. Getting visitors to your site is what you get when we talk of SEO. However, convincing them to stick around and revisit your site is entirely another story.

We keep on hearing from SEO gurus about the importance of excellent content. The oft-repeated SEO liner - content is king - is a customary component of every SEO tip that we get from these experts. Yet, the present crop of references about excellent content leaves a lot to be desired.

Why is it necessary to have excellent content? Your content must have the elements that will make it attractive to both search engines and human readers.

Excellent Content and Search Engines

You are missing your target by a mile if you manage traffic generation solely within the purview of SEO algorithms. A cursory look at the result of top ranking sites in Google search will reveal one glaring element - excellent content. It takes more than just meta tag keywords, title and description to be able to rank high in search engine results.

Google has been pushing sites with excellent content all the way to the top of their search results. This technical mechanism that Google is employing has effectively drawn the distinction between sites with excellent content and those with plain gibberish. How this is done is a closely guarded secret. One thing is certain - search engines are becoming more sophisticated as they are now looking at web pages as a whole. The web page is ranked based on the quality of content instead of just the keywords, title and description.

Excellent Content and Human Traffic

If you get overly fixated at high ranking in search engine results, then you are essentially shooting yourself in the foot. You are basically pushing your site to the brink of total failure if you think that getting your keyword in the title and the main body of your content is enough for search spiders to index your page and land you a slot in the first page of the search engine listing.

What is more important is for you to create a content that is accurate, fresh, engaging and compelling. This is what makes an excellent content. You have to remember that your primary concern in coming up with excellent content is not really to make search engine happy but to develop your web page into a worthwhile read for your visitors. This is what builds traffic. You have to use your resources in order to deliver the information that your readers seek in a concise and simple manner.

When you provide your readers with excellent content, you are not just driving potential traffic to your site. You are actually building traffic by getting them to stay longer and revisit your site. This residual traffic is the one that can drive your site to the top page of search engine listings.

The quality of your content will ultimately determine the success of your site. Once you deliver the kind of content that search engines and human readers want then you will generate consistent traffic.
