Navigating the disposable diaper aisle does not have to be frustrating. I must admit that when I first became a mother, I was hooked on Huggies and even the occasional bag of Luv's, or Pampers. Now that I have had the privilege of birthing another child, my disposable diaper preference is unwavering! After years of changing the diapers of my own children coupled with years of professional experience changing the diapers of other people's children, I have come to one informed conclusion...Generic diapers are by far the best value in disposable diapers. This may sound like nonsense to some but when you consider the purpose and cost benefits of disposable diapers, this conclusion is very logical.
Disposable diapers are meant to be used and promptly discarded. Disposable diapers are not meant to last a certain amount of hours or to hold large amounts of "baby waste". Commercials for many major brands often lead you to believe that a disposable diapers worth is directly related to the amount it can hold without leaking. Do you really want to know how much a disposable diaper can hold? Sitting in waste material can not be comfortable for your child and can lead to diaper rash as well as a long list of bacterial infections. A dirty diaper with a Huggies seal on it does not smell any better than a dirty generic diaper!
Generic disposable diapers are much cheaper than their brand name alternatives. This is often true even when considerable amounts of coupons are used to purchase brand names diapers. Don't led an attractively laid out sales flyer or coupon fool you. Do the math! Saving 35 cents or even a whole dollar is nothing compared to saving $3 to $4 per package of diapers. Although prices of specific products will vary based on a variety of factors, generic diapers will definitely save you money in the long run! One baby can actually use up to 10 diapers per day!
Believe it or not, generic diapers are not made of tissue paper. You may not even be able to tell the difference between a generic diaper and a brand name diaper if packaging labels are removed. A brand name label on a diaper will not make your child happier or keep them from getting diaper rash. Your child will not care what the label on his/her diaper says. Your child will care to be promptly changed and fitted for his/her diaper.
