GIS is software that is based on computer information system which is capable of sometimes digitally representing and also analyzing geographic features and events. Some of the main features of GIS involve storing, assembling and also manipulating the results that are displayed with the data from the data base.GIS works on the simple concept that almost all the data are a form of maps and also 3d virtual models, tables or lists.
GIS has these features:
Hardware and peripherals, software, data, end users to feed data and also manipulate and interpret them and last of all comprehensive system which can be used effectively with training.
GIS projection and representations are from the real world data using some of the best digital data. If the data is normal so then digitize it converts coordinates into much better digital format. Some of the key conditions while entering the information onto the GIS are that the information is to be specific to the needs and identifies of the objects which is on the map with spatial relationships.
There are two methods in geographic information system. These methods are raster method and vector method.
In the raster method some of the data is arranged in the order rows and columns or sometimes in the form of cells storing single values. When the values are recorded in each and every cell, they are based on individual data classes which they represent.
GIS is employed primarily for relating information from across different sources. The different variables are related for the essential know how for the locations. The system always uses the x, y, z co ordinates which are used to denote locations of different variables under study. Several agencies which are part of the government and sometimes non-government are always coming up with some databases that can be directly integrated and entered in to GIS.
The geographic information system is always used for different purposes. They are used to determine the amount of rainfall.GIS is always used for agricultural purposes to see the areas and fields. These coordinates and location are measured, after this the plane is used to spray the fields with equal amounts of fertilizers on the fields. It also helps locates landmarks, hazards and also helps plotting destinations and emergency routes.
