Hollywood heartthrob George Clooney is coming to Nebraska. The Oscar winning handsome bachelor is sure to be met with throngs of fans. One might wonder just why George Clooney is coming to Nebraska. He is starring in an upcoming movie titled Up In The Air which is based on a book authored by Walter Kirn. The movie is directed by Oscar nominated Jason Reitman who also directed the huge hit Juno. George Clooney's character in the movie is Ryan Bingham whose hometown is Omaha, Nebraska. The character of Bingham is an Human Resources hatchet man, a corporate downsizer who happens to be fixated on accumulating one million frequent flyer miles.

Certainly a fair number of Nebraskans would love to catch a glimpse of this hunky celebrity. It is those who live in the metro Omaha area that have the best chance at sneaking a peek of this handsome hunk made famous by ER and numerous film roles. The exact dates of the filming have not yet been released but George Clooney is expected to be filming in Omaha for at least three days this Spring. The locations where filming is expected to take place include the Omaha Visitors Center located at 10th and Farnham streets as well as other Omaha landmarks including the giant pushpins which are markers for tourist destinations within the metro area such as the Henry Doorly Zoo , Boys Town and the Historic Old Market District. The exact dates of filming and the locations are kept secret for as long as possible to avoid traffic snarls, security concerns, mobs of fans and filming delays. It is also not public knowledge if George Clooney's co-stars will also be present in Omaha for filming. His co-stars for this film include Anna Kendrick who was in the hugely popular vampire movie Twilight as the character of Jessica and Vera Farmiga who was in the recent movie The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.

The majority of this film is being film in St. Louis but after scouting the Omaha metro area the director Jason Reitman chose to film scenes in Omaha as well. There was a large casting call in Missouri for extras and over two thousand lucky people got hired for the part. With any luck there will be a casting call in Omaha as well. Perhaps the in the role of an extra one might not exactly rub elbows with George Clooney but surely it would be a unique experience and one you would always remember.
