George Clooney's Girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis Set to Make American Television Debut

George Clooney's gorgeous Italian girlfriend, Elisabetta Canalis, is set to make her American television debut. Elisabetta will have a 5-episode role in the TNT night time drama, Leverage, where she will play a gorgeous femme fatale (what else?) known as "The Italian" opposite Timothy Hutton's character.

Take one look at Elisabetta Canalis and there is really only one word to describe her - smokin'. If one is judging by the looks category only, it's easy to see why George Clooney hooked up with the lovely Italian.

But, the bigger question is whether Elisabetta Canalis really has the acting chops to break into Hollywood. Girlfriend nepotism (is there such a thing?) has certainly opened a couple of doors for her. But, can she deliver the goods? We shall see.

George's previous girlfriend, the seriously cute, Sarah Larson (who looked remarkably similar to Elisibetta Canalis, by the way) wasn't able to parlay her George Clooney arm-candy status into anything significant.

Though she did strut on a couple of fashion show cat-walks and for a short time was set to become a lingerie model for Christian Audigier, after George Clooney did what George Clooney does best - dumped her, she all but disappeared from the scene.

Elisabetta Canalis' American television debut will occur on June 20th. We can all judge for ourselves then if we think she has what it takes to go the distance and drop the "George Clooney's Girlfriend" prefix from her name and become an actress in her own right. And of course, only time will tell if she actually makes it past the average 12-month expiration date for Clooney women.
