George Clooney's Many Loves

I dated several guys before I married my husband and he was the fifth to propose to me. None of them, of course, was George Clooney, Before my husband came along, I was serious about having a relationship but not serious about marrying. I had several serious relationships, most of them didn't end well.

I'm the product of a broken home and I didn't want to be married or to have any children because I didn't want my children or myself to go through what I went through. But I also hadn't met anyone who I really wanted to say 'yes' to.

George Clooney did not come from a broken home and was married once to Talia Balsam who he met and pursued for about five years before they married in 1989. The marriage was over by 1993 and he was no longer willing to remarry. So far, that has been the case. He apparently, pursues monogamous non-married relationships. This is the current collected list of his relationships:

Before Talia, George lived with Kelly Preston in 1988 before she married John Travolta. They shared a 280 pound Vietnamese pot bellied pig named Max that George had given Kelly. When Kelly left she also left Max with George. Max lived to the very ripe old age of 19.

Then two years after his divorce he dated Eddie Murphy's ex, Kimberly Russell. She wanted children and a commitment. He ended the relationship.

George met Celine Balitran in 1996 and their relationship lasted until 1999 even though she dropped out of law school, moved from France to LA to live with him he still rebounded to Brooke Langton in 1999. Brooke went from modeling to being an actress in Melrose Place.

In 2001, he hooked up with Renee Zellweger briefly, in between relationships and she on the rebound from Jim Carrey.

Then from 2001 to 2002 he dated Lisa Snowdon in Spain while he was filming a commercial. She is an English TV host. After they broke up, they saw each other every-so-often over several years.

Then George had an on-again and off-again relationship with Krista Allen that spanned through the years of 2002 to 2006. At some point he apparently asked her to move in with him, with her son Jacob. But she wanted a commitment from him and he didn't want one from her.

Max died in 2006.

George met Sarah Larson in Las Vegas where she was waitressing in a club. The dated from 2007 to 2008 when it has been rumored that she tried to use their relationship to gain more fame for herself. They broke up not long after their mutual appearance at the 2008 Oscars.

George's latest girlfriend is Elisabetta Canalis whom he began seeing in 2009. She is an Italian model, actress and TV host.

According to yourtango.com George has made it plain that he doesn't plan to marry again and that his career is more important than a committed relationship.

I know why I took a long time to decide to finally say yes to a committed relationship. Only part of it was due to my childhood experience. The other part was due to a one year relationship I had with a guy where I was working at being committed to the relationship and had been given the expectation that he was also when one day
he showed up at my house and gave me his little "we'll still be friends" speech and immediately went to another girl.

It took a long time before I stopped saying "no" to every guy that came along.

George pursued Talia for five years for a marriage that lasted one year shorter than the time he took convincing her to marry him. That had to have really hurt. Perhaps, he decided that he didn't want to be disappointed and hurt like that again.

It seems to me that he allowed himself to be vulnerable in that situation and because of the way it turned out he decided to not let that happen again. Now it appears that he commits to a certain level in a relationship. Then when his present partner wants more, he moves on before it becomes too complicated.

That can get old and lonely. Perhaps, someday George will find that person whom he is willing to become vulnerable for again, since a committed relationship requires that.
