George Lucas, the infamous Star Wars director, met up with gossip columnist Roger Friedman of Fox News at the Time Magazine 100 most influential people dinner, and went on to say that he was not impressed by Spiderman's new sequel. The sequel reportedly surged ahead of the director's 2005 film Revenge of the Sith to take the record for the biggest weekend box-office record.

"It's a silly movie," he said yesterday. "There just isn't much there - once you take it all apart, there's not much story." Lucas adds the following remark with a wink, "People thought Star Wars was silly, too, but it wasn't."

Lucas' comments have sparked an online battle over which movie can claim masterpiece status. Some fans say that Star Wars will always be the better series, while others respond to Lucas' comment by pointing out that in their opinion, Star Wars doesn't have any more of a storyline than Spiderman does.

In 2002 a BBC online poll of almost 10,000 voters, 86 percent favored Star Wars, Attack of the Clones over Spiderman.

George Lucas is currently preparing to shoot Indiana Jones 4 with Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett and Ray Winstone. The latter plays Ford's son, which means his mother was possibly the character Karen Allen played in Raiders of the Lost Ark. The script also includes the Henry Jones character, played in the past by Sean Connery. However, Connery has not confirmed if he will play in Indiana Jones 4. Not very much is known about this film as Steven Spielberg's desire is to keep the entire storyline under wraps, which Lucas believes is impossible but will try his best, and refuses to confirm any rumors about the film. Indiana Jones 4 will arrive in theaters on May 22nd, 2008.

Other than Indiana Jones 4, George Lucas is about to launch Clone Wars, an animated television series, which has many Star Wars characters, but they will be voiced by other actors. The new Clone Wars is scheduled to air in 2008.

Lucas also reveals that he is planning to make two further movies based in the Star Wars era. But the characters found in the two movies will not have the members of the Skywalker family. The movies will most likely be one hour long each, and be aired on TV. It is said that the live action Star Wars adventure, which is to take place between Episodes III and IV, are set for 2009.
