Autumn turns temperatures cooler and often this means travelers venture south to search for the waning heat. Autumn temperatures in the southern areas of the Untied States are warm and breezy during the day and brilliantly crispy as night falls. Georgia is the perfect place to experience autumn in its most colorful. Autumn temperatures are wonderful in the south but fall also brings lots of fun activities to partake in during visits. Georgia is full of festivals and fall fun.

The National BBQ Cup

The National BBQ Cup in Cummings, Georgia is an annual event each November where participants from around the country gather to compete with their own BBQ recipes. Prizes awarded to participants and winners in various BBG dishes. Live music, street vendors and live performances are stretched along 4 city blocks.

International Festival

The international festival is a yearly event held to celebrate the diversities in other cultures. Multicultural awareness is promoted through games, contest, performances and other venues. Local educational opportunities are promoted and various street vendors and attractions. The event includes a parade, Its a Small World exhibit and a variety of cultural skits and plays.

Georgia Apple Festival

The entire Apple Festival is dedicated to the apple. The early 1900 brought a boll weevil epidemic to the area. The introduction of apples to the area saved it from destruction. Food vendors offer apples made any number of ways; fried, pies, tarts, biscuits, candied, caramel and more. Try myriad apple drink such as wine, cider, juice and smoothies. Fun apple facts and games are available. Arts and crafts booths offer merchandise and exhibits as well.

Taking a fall drive is another great way to enjoy autumn down south. Georgia has so many winding country roads full of huge trees. Leaves fall and the cinnamon crispness of dried leaves is dense in the air. Try a trip down Chattahoochee River Road in Helen, Georgia. The fall colors show best in the last week of October. Tallulah River Road in Tate City is a lovely stretch of road with an unbelievable mountain view.

Georgia's hot summer temperatures and warmer winters makes its fall unmistakably rich in golds, reds and deep greens. For late autumn travel its a journey worth taking.
