This event will be an excellent opportunity for qualified teacher candidates to visit and interview with various Georgia school systems on one day in a single location in the Atlanta, Georgia area. Qualified candidates will hold a valid teaching credential in special education, math, science, or foreign language.
WHEN
Saturday, March 5, 2011. The event is held on a Saturday to allow out of town visitors and current educators around the state the chance to interview at a time that probably does not conflict with weekday events and schedules.
WHERE
Georgia International Convention Center - Exhibit Hall D
2000 Convention Center Concourse
College Park, GA 30337
Phone: 770-997-3566
Detailed directions are available on the GICC website.
Parking - $3.00 per day
DIRECTIONS & ACCOMMODATIONS
A complete listing of nearby accommodations is available on the GICC website, but since the event is extremely close to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, there are many local hotels and establishments where one may reside. In fact, in years past some individuals simply take a morning flight in and return on an evening flight out of the nearby airport.
TIME
The event begins at 9:00 a.m. and will last until 2:00p.m. I recommend that applicants arrive no later than 8:30 a.m. in order to get the best places in line and the greatest opportunity of interviewing with the system they are most interested in working.
COST
There is no cost to candidates to participate in this job fair. School systems, however, pay a fee to cover the expenses associated with the use of the facility.
FORMAT
This will be an "open/browse" format. Candidates will be allowed to freely visit with representatives from school systems. Likewise, candidates can schedule individual interviews on the day of the fair. Depending on the school system, candidates may be offered jobs on that day or invited back to the locale school district to visit schools and participate in additional interviews.
REFRESHMENTS Concession stands will be open and candidates are encouraged to bring extra money to purchase snacks and drinks. Because candidates may possibly interview and visit with multiple school systems, you might get hungry during the day or need a cup of coffee.
REGISTRATION
Qualified special education, math, science, and foreign language teachers should visit the TEACHGEORGIA website. TeachGeorgia is the official state source to find educator employment opportunities in Georgia public schools. Job-seekers may complete the online resume and apply for positions announced. Likewise, position vacancies as well as other job fairs will be listed along with other valuable information.
