Geraldine Ferraro for Vice President

Charles Willoughby
Geraldine Ferraro is an intelligent, and respected former politician who has contributed a great deal to society and to the movement for women's equality. She made history when she ran for Vice President on the Mondale-Ferraro ticket in . Over the past year she has worked on the finance committee of the Clinton campaign and has served as an outspoken advocate of Hillary Clinton for President.

Ms. Ferraro's recent remarks during a paid speech in which she commented on Senator Clinton's opponent, Barack Obama has resulted in cries of racism and brought much criticism of Ms. Ferraro. These earmarks included the following:

"If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."

Most who know Ms. Ferraro well would tell us she is no racist and that the remarks were misinterpreted. They may be right, but giving Ferraro the benefit of the doubt, these remarks were at best ill thought out.

Antone who believes that being a Black man offers huge advantages in American politics has not been paying attention.

Ms. Ferraro does herself and all of us a disservice by attempting to defend these remarks.

Still there may be a place yet for Ms. Ferraro in national politics....perhaps even as part of a national ticket.

Jack Kavorkian has announced his candidacy for national office. Why not President? And if morbid Jack runs a Vice President will be needed. Ms. Ferraro may be the perfect Vice Presidential candidate on the Kevorkian ticket. .

Consider Kevorkian's recent position given in a speech at the University of Florida in which he said:

Kevorkian turned his attention to race and said plainly; "The whites don't unite."

"The whites, especially the old ones, they have petrified brains; their brainwashing is complete," Kevorkian explained. "You've got an Irishman, a German, a Greek, a Frenchman and they don't unite... they're wimps... There's no power in the unification of the whites. Who has the power in this country? Black people."

"Blacks can unite," Kevorkian explained. "Because of their common color" and "because they know what slavery is... Had they known about the 9th Amendment, history would have been different... The power of the blacks will lead you to act on the 9th Amendment."

...is that Ferraro talk or what???

Is the Kevorkian ticket the Obama Nemesis? Will Ferraro have a role?

Kevorkian seems to have his role as President down pat. Defining the presidency he said:

"When you vote for president, you're only electing an idiot on puppet strings,"

Kevorkian added that the 2000 election was a "sham" and that "You're going to vote for another corrupt man soon, or a woman."

I am assuming Kevorkian includes himself among the field.

Certainly he qualifies as an idiot on a string.

There is no report whether Geraldine is interested, but it is a possibility.

Obama must be shaking in his boots.....but, then, being a black man, he has all of the advantages.
