Gerber Grins & Giggles Baby Lotion in The15 Oz Bottle

This has got to be the absolute worst lotion on the market for babies or for anyone for that matter. I purchased the Gerber Grins & Giggles Baby Lotion in the15 oz bottle when my son was first born. I thought how could I go wrong with a Gerber product. Well, I was proved wrong. Where do I begin with this terrible and very disappointing product?

My son has very dry skin on his legs. I have been putting moisturizing lotion on him ever since he was born. As soon as I tried this lotion, I was disappointed. First of all, the smell is gross. I can't really explain the smell other than not pleasant. The smell stays on your hands for quite some time after applying it. Even after washing your hands, you can still smell it. The bottle is extremely heavy. I have dropped it on my foot more than once and I thought I broke my toe.

The lotion itself does not help heal my son's dry skin. It doesn't do a good job of absorbing into his skin. It just smears over his legs. I have to really work it in before I notice any absorption. To me it leaves a greasy feeling. If my hands feel greasy, than my son's legs must feel greasy too. It has a white color to it. The dispense top always gets messy. I have to constantly clean it with a paper towel or a baby wipe. The bottle itself cost me $3.99 two years ago from Babies R Us. I still have it only because I can't throw it away. I figured I will use until it is empty and then buy a new one. The only thing is it is taking me two years to finish the bottle. I guess that is the one good thing about the product, it does last a long time. You get your money's worth in quantity but not in quality.

After I apply it to my son's legs, I have to immediately wash my hands or else they stay sticky. I notice the smell stays on your hands as well. When I put my son's pants back on after applying the lotion, I notice they stick to his legs. This has to be uncomfortable for him. He can't really express himself yet, but if he could he would probably say, "yucky". He always says that when he doesn't like or want something. I would say yucky to this product too.

I would not recommend purchasing the Gerber Grins & Giggles Baby Lotion. There are many choices out there and I could promise you that I will not be purchasing this product again. I haven't noticed any difference in my son's dry skin. I think after writing this review, I will be purchasing a new moisturizer for my son. I wonder why Gerber hasn't come out with a better moisturizing lotion. At least one that smells better.

You must have just gotten a 'bad' bottle. I used this stuff religiously with my 5 year old when he was a baby. I'm extremely disappointed that it is off of the market to use on our new daughter.

My cousin's little one has eczema quite badly. Before he was born, I bought her about 8 different little travel sets of baby soaps. The packs that have shampoo, lotion, body wash, etc. She tried all of them, johnson and johnson... gerber... all of them, the one that she tried last... Burt's Bee's Wax, Baby Bee. She is now hooked on. She uses the whole line, shampoo, lotion, body wash, all of it on her little guy,it is the only product she has found that does not flare up his eczema. THey even have an awesome line for mommy's. Burt's bee's wax, Mamma Bee. They have this product called Belly Butter, it is wonderful. no stretch marks on me. Work's better than any others I have tried, Palmer's included. Hope this helps.
