Gerber for Toddlers Lil' Entrees Macaroni & Cheese in the 6.6 Ounce Box

Why reinvent the wheel is what I always say. I have to admit that I am not a great cook. I do try but I never seem to get anything right. I discovered Gerber for Toddlers Lil' entrees Macaroni & Cheese in the 6.6 ounce box at my local supermarket. I bought it with the hope that my son would actually like it. Well, it turns out that he loves it. I have tried to make him the Kraft macaroni and cheese (it is much cheaper to buy) but he refuses to eat that. He will only eat the Gerber macaroni and cheese.

The lil' entrees come with the main meal in one compartment and a vegetable in the other compartment. The macaroni and cheese meal comes with carrots and peas. All you have to do is puncture the seal on both sides of each compartment. Then put it in the microwave for 30 seconds. I usually only put it in for 25 seconds because my microwave is very powerful. Always test the food before giving it to your child. You don't want them to burn themselves. Carefully remove it from the microwave because the juices from the vegetable side will tend to leak out and burn your hand. Over the sink, pull a little bit of the seal back over the vegetable side to drain the water out. Then rip off the whole seal. Make sure to mix the meal and vegetables. You can serve either in the tray or in a separate dish. Sometimes to sneak the vegetables in I will mix them into the macaroni and cheese.

My son also enjoys the meat and stars Gerber graduates. The meat and stars comes with a side of green been vegetables. I would have to say that these and the macaroni and cheese are his favorites. If you have leftovers, you can store them in the refrigerator up to three days. Make sure they are in a closed container or wrapped tightly.

The macaroni and cheese is made with real cheese. They are the perfect size for your child to feed themselves. My son makes a mess, but enjoys eating his dinner now. One tray equals one serving size. There are 150 calories in a serving. 50 calories are from fat. There are 6g of total fat, 3.5g are saturated fat. There are 20mg of cholesterol. The sodium is pretty high coming in at 420mg. There are only 2g of dietary fiber. There are 3g of sugar and 6g of protein.

The ingredients include water, peas, carrots, enriched macaroni, wheat semolina, egg whites, niacin, nonfat milk, butternut squash, modified cornstarch, cream, butter, salt, and a lot more. My advice would be to read the side of the box when you purchase it. Always make sure your child isn't allergic to any of the ingredients. It comes in a rip open top box which is easy to open. Each meal is 6.6 ounces.

Since my son just turned two he is starting to talk a lot more. He is able to tell me when he doesn't like something. So far, so good. We are still loving the macaroni and cheese meal. The noodles are big. Better than the Kraft noodles which are tiny and have no flavor. The cheese is thick and creamy. The vegetables always seem fresh even though they are prepackaged. Sometimes when my son is really hungry, he can actually eat two boxes at a time. One box is enough if you have a snack, maybe a fruit for your child after dinner.

I buy these at King Kullen and Target. I find them to be much cheaper at Target. They usually run about $2.50. The macaroni and cheese and meat and stars usually sell out the quickest. They have more to choose from, like noodles and chicken, etc...I highly recommend the Gerber for Toddlers Lil'Entrée meals.
