Germs are every where you look. The average person is in personal contact with an astounding number of household germs each and every day. Some households are germ factories waiting to infect the household occupants. Just take a quick look around the house. Germs are hiding on the doorknobs, tables, chairs, remotes, appliances. Everyone in the house is a candidate for germ infestation. Lets take a closer look at the germs that occupy the typical household.

Household Germs

According to researchers there are four types of germs hiding in the typical household. The germs are bacteria, virus, fungi, protozoa.

Bacteria - Take a microscopic look at bacteria and you find that it is a single cell organism. Some bacteria is good while other bacteria is bad. Bacteria invades our digestive system but the bad bacteria is destroyed by the digestive systems' immune system. Good bacteria often lives in the stomach and helps with digestion.

Virus - A Virus is smaller than bacteria but can be quite harmful to the body. Although the virus micro-organism is smaller, it invades living cells and causes illness. A virus typically can only survive for a long period if it is attached to a living host and spreads through bodily fluids. Many viruses also attach themselves to items that are commonly found around the house. For example, a cup, glass, doorknob, even that remote you use to change television channels.

Fungi - Fungi organisms are not life threatening but they spread rapidly.

Protozoa - is a micro-organism that breeds in contaminated water.

Let's fact i, germs are everywhere in the household. There is no denying this fact. Germs breed on the doors, doorknobs, tv remote, appliances, glasses, utensils, toys, computer keypads, door handles, rails, chairs,
stove tops, kitchen counter tips, light switches, microwaves, oven doors, thermostats, towels, sponges, toilet seats, floors. So, how do we live germ free?

Living Germ Free

Start living germ free by keeping the hands clean to stop the spread of germs around the household. Wash hands after work or play activities. Wash hands before eating. Hold hands over mouth when sneezing to stop germs. And make it a habit to clean kitchen surfaces, doorknobs, appliances, with an antibacterial spray each day.
