Get a $1 Million Home for $150

How it Could Happen for You

Ronni Dee
Have you ever wanted to move to California? Get out of the cold, spread your wings perhaps. There is always that one big problem whenever someone decides to pick up and move across the country: money. One family from California is changing that for one lucky person.

The Baum's from Tracy, California will raffle no more than 13,000 tickets to win their home. At $150 for each entry, if all entries are sold, that is almost a $2 million gain. This philanthropic couple is not going to pocket the profits, they have vowed to give it to charity. They have also stated that they feel this will be a alternative way to transfer ownership of the house to a new family that might not qualify for conventional financing.

This story comes at an all important time in history. With the economy in recession, more and more Americans losing their jobs, and too many homes in foreclosure to even estimate, you could be the winner of the home for just $150.

$150 is not a lot when you are talking about a million dollar home. Who wouldn't want to be able to buy at that kind of mark down? The problem could be that with Christmas right around the corner, many of the lower income families with a dream won't be able to spare the $150.

While this is a great idea, and I commend this couple for doing this, at this time, I feel the winner of this fortune of sorts is going to be someone who could have obtained a mortgage on their own, if not buy the house outright with cash, and not a family that couldn't otherwise qualify for financing for the home.

All is well that ends well and although you are eligible to purchase more than one ticket, someone could walk away with this million dollar mansion for as little as $150 and be well on their way to making their dreams come true. Meanwhile, depending on the charity selected by the Baum's, someone other than the lucky winner could end up with their dreams coming true as well.

Right! If I had an extra $150 (considering the time of year) I would get in on it, just to say I tried. I am hoping to be able to follow it once the raffle goes off, too. Again, hoping that someone who otherwise couldn't afford their own house wins as well.

A lot of people don't realize that they still have to pay taxes if they win. But even so, at $150 a shot, it's worth it.
