Get Away in Clay City, Kentucky

Need an Out of the Way, Non Tourist Driven Place to Stay? This is the Place for You!

Ricky Doan
Recently my family and I took a trip down to Kentucky to meet a half Sister and Brother that I only recently learned of. We didn't want to stay in a typical hotel or motel and try to get to know one another in an uncomfortable setting.

This prompted my search for cabins in the area and I found a gem!

Clay City, a very small town located about 30 minutes South East of Lexington, has the old time feel of the small one stop light towns. Cozy, no one in a hurry and just a simple place to be. Nestled in the mountains just outside of town is a wonderful place to stay called Clay City Cabin Rental. http://www.claycitycabin.com .

We stay in a lot of cabins when we travel. My wife, four children and myself, no longer fit into a single hotel room. For the cost of two hotel rooms you can usually find a cabin equipped with full kitchen, sleeping quarters for everyone and simply much more comfortable. By far, I must say, this cabin is Clay City far exceeded the other cabins we have stayed in.

The owner was very quick to respond to my reservation inquires and I found her to be very friendly and helpful. She went out of her way to make sure we had every thing we needed and sent detailed directions in advance of our leaving. You need her directions. Trust me. This cabin is located down a small road that I still haven't figured out if two cars could pass on. It's located on the mountain side, with a beautiful woods behind it, a towering cliff in front of it yet close enough to the road and town that it's still convenient.

The decor of the cabin was beautiful! My wife and I love the country decor and this cabin was loaded with it. The cabin has 3 Bedrooms with sleeping for 6 (2 Queen beds, 2 Twin Beds) and 2 full Bathrooms. It also has a woodstove, Central Heat & Cooling, a full Kitchen and a Washer and Dryer. There is a beautiful porch on the front to sit on and a charcoal grill and fire pit in the back. It is a great place for a family to stay!

Truly it is a place to get away. Cell phone reception is almost non-existent and there is no satellite or cable. There is a DVD player, so one can take movies if they so choose.

Nearby to the cabin is Natural Bridge which is a large natural sandstone arch. There is a terrifying yet thrilling sky lift that takes you up on top of the Natural Bridge or you can hike the trails. Make no mistake, it is a hike! However, it is simply beautiful country.

Over all this cabin was the perfect stay for us. I was able to meet my Sister and Brother, and create memories with my family that will last a life time. If you need a place to stay, please consider Clay City Cabin Rental in Kentucky. Call 859-556-2979 and ask for Theresa! Be sure and tell her you heard about Clay City Cabin Rental here. I am confident you will have a wonderful time.

Until next time...
