Tune-up
Oil change
Equal air pressure in all tires
Low-resistance tires
Full additive
Premium gas
Step 1:
Get a tune-up for your Beetle. Make sure your oil is changed every 3,000 miles. This will keep your Beetle in tip top shape. If your Beetle is in top shape, it will get the best gas mileage.
Step 2:
Make sure that all of the tires have equal air pressure and that the tires are full. Flat tires don't perform well and eat up your gas mileage by 3 percent. Your gas station attendant can help you check and fill your tires. You should do this twice per month.
Step 3:
Use the cruise control feature in your Beetle. Starting and stopping your car eats a lot of gas. This is why vehicles get better gas mileage on a freeway verses around town. The cruise control feature will help you stay at a constant speed and use the least amount of gas.
Step 4:
Check your gas cap after each fill up. Too many people lose gas from a cap that isn't put back on tightly. After all, you want to make sure you get to use all of the gas you paid for.
Step 5:
Switch to low-resistance tires. This will make a big difference in your Beetle's gas mileage. The least amount of resistance equals less gas use.
Step 6:
Use a fuel additive. This will keep the fuel line clean so that your Beetle can run more efficiently, which, of course, means it uses less gas.
Step 7:
Use premium gas and make sure you buy it during the coolest part of the day. This way you get the cleanest gas possible, which will go a lot farther. This step alone won't make a huge difference, but when you combine it with all of the other steps, you will see a huge return on your money.
Tips:
Beetles normally get about 25 mpg. With improvements you can expect to get 35 mpg.

Post a CommentPremium gas is, according to most mechanics, a waste of money. Only necessary on extremely high end vehicls. I had a car salesman tell me to use premium in my car and I put in a tank full and the car jumped and jerked until that tank of gas was finished. You can save money but not buying premium gas.
