Shampoo sample. I've sampled them all. I walk down a store's shampoo aisle and it's like reunion time. Shampoo and my hair simply never got along too well. I decided enough was enough. I quarantined my hair from shampoo savagery, and I've never looked back. My hair's thanked me ever since.
Suds steal that sheen. Put simply, there's loads of stuff in shampoo besides cleaning agents, which can rob the scalp and hair follicles of their natural oils over time. A prime culprit is cheap alcohol. Sure, that basic booze cleans, but it also dries things up. A day after tossing out my shampoo, my hair looked and felt better. By the end of the first week, I felt better all around. I started taking quicker showers, and my hair looked shinier and felt younger.
Natural look, naturally. Nothing's more natural than scrubbing up with just plain old water. Using just water can also dry up the hair, but it acts as even more of a drying agent combined with shampoo. I'm not forgetting conditioners. Using them can make hair look and feel better. For me though, just a good hot shower with plenty of hot water seems to do the trick for my hair.
I haven't banned shampoo completely. When it's a really hot summer day, or my hair's become particularly dirty, I'll use it, but that's not very often. Washing my hair with shampoo not only smothered my hair's natural look and feel, but also my scalp got itchy from it. Small price to pay for a well formulated lab concoction? No thanks.
I've severed my ties with shampoo. It became way too addictive of a relationship. My independence from it changed my look, my budget and my life. Try to go cold turkey like I did from shampoo and see if you can live without it. Or at least demote it to one of those friends whom you see only every so often. You will be glad you did.
