At first, I was skeptical of the Bare Escentuals infomercials for their bareMinerals foundation, but I was convinced to try it after a friend, who has a beautiful complexion, said it's all she wears. So, I started out by ordering the bareMinerals starter kit.
The bareMinerals starter kit includes two shades of bareMinerals foundation, one Mineral Veil finishing powder, one Warmth All-Over Face Color and three application brushes. Don't be scared off by the higher price - about $60 for the starter kit. The kit lasts for quite a while: I still use the Warmth AOFC from the kit I purchased two years ago. And the full-sized foundations, which are a little bigger than the ones in the starter set, will last for a year if they are applied correctly.
Speaking of application, the "swirl, tap, buff" method touted in the commercials is time efficient and gives good coverage. Only a small amount of foundation is needed: Tap it into the lid. Swirling the brush in the lid gathers up a good amount of foundation: Tap off the excess powder from the brush back into the lid, and begin to apply the foundation to the face.
Buffing is easy. By starting from the outside of the face and swirling the brush inward toward the nose, foundation never looks cakey (though I'm sure it's not possible for this powder to ever look too packed onto the face). After buffing the foundation, use the same "swirl" and "tap" methods to put the Mineral Veil onto the brush, and then buff it onto the face. The Mineral Veil is like a finish, and it will make the foundation last.
The last powder that needs applying is the Warmth AOFC. And trust me, it gives the face an amazing glow. Apply it to the cheeks generously and then to the forehead, nose, eyebrow bones and jaw bone. It gives the face a suntanned, bronzed look.
The application brushes included in the kit have soft, large bristles that are perfect for evenly applying foundation and the Warmth AOFC.
The bareMinerals makeup makes my skin look healthier while covering up small imperfections. Not to mention that it feels weightless on my skin. I have even slept in it before, and it's never caused a breakout. In fact, it helped to clear up my occasional breakout.
After using bareMinerals makeup, I can't believe I ever used liquid foundation. Treating my skin right and getting great coverage is extremely easy because of bareMinerals.
