In tough economic times like these, it's hard to find a cheap way to take the family out on the town. However, California Pizza Kitchen, a family-friendly restaurant, has a promotion going on that helps everyone!

California Pizza Kitchen was started by Larry Flax and Rick Rosenfield in Beverly Hills in 1985. They started out as lawyers, but decided they wanted out of the courtroom and into the kitchen. Now with over 250 restaurants, "CPK" is a household brand name, including a new line of pizzas located in your freezer aisle! What is interesting is if you think about, you never see advertising for California Pizza Kitchen. That is because they spend their "advertising money" on server training instead, where the servers try everything on the menu. If you have any questions about an item, ask your server and they will be able to give you an honest to goodness truthful answer.

Although the pizzas are amazing, the menu also includes pastas, salads, specialties, and sandwiches, so I'm sure everyone in your family will find something they like. Some of my favorites include the Garlic Cream Fettuccine, Sante Fe pizza, and the Thai Crunch Salad. Of course no meal would be complete without a Chocolate Souffle with Haagen-Dazs ice cream to finish. With kids' meals at about $6.00, the whole family can enjoy a nice inexpensive lunch or dinner.

So how do we eat there at a discount? The promotion is called the "Don't open it" Thank you cards. It is given to every customer as a thank you for choosing us for your meal. It is a sealed yellow card with a prize inside. Everybody is a winner. The cards range from 10% off, 50% off, free dinner for 2, or some of the bigger prizes include cash prizes ranging from $1000 to $50,000 or a trip to Cancun! Who couldn't use that kind of cash or a vacation these days right? Plus every time you come, you will get a new card so you can eat at a discount for the next several months.

As always there is a catch. You do not know what prize you have until you return to a CPK. So to review you have your meal and you are given a card. Starting the next day, go to any California Pizza kitchen in the world and a manager will scratch the card and tell you your prize. It cannot be opened before then or it is null and void. Your server also cannot scratch the card for you because if you win a big prize, they win a big prize as well. This promotion is going on until the end of June. Hope to see you visit us soon!
