Algorithm, Schmalgorithm. The Right Words Remain the Key

David A. Reinstein, LCSW

When folks sit at their computer
Not knowing exactly what they
Are trying to find,
But deeply immersed in the quest
Notwithstanding
To find out anything
Without over-stretching their mind
Google is often a place they look
Before turning on the T.V.,
Listening to the radio,
Reading a newspaper or
Opening a book.
It is the modern and easy way
To find information
That is sometimes weak
And sometimes solid:
Which is which is not marked
With any reliable or consistent
Designation.

If the object is attention,
It is not all that hard
To beat their algorithm
Like a strategically played
Trump card.
Use the words that people look for
As they browse the World Wide Web
And Google will bring them to you
In numbers you might not believe;
Relevance is less the issue
Then wearing good key words
On your your smartly titled sleeve.

I have heard people talk about Googling yourself (sounds kind of obscene, doesn't it?) to find out what is floating around in cyberspace for all to see. I liked your poem, and I am going to have to try the snow thing now that Michele commented about it.

If you type the words, "Let it Snow" into Google - it will begin to snow on your computer screen (did you know that?) I just had to share because I heard that earlier, kinda cool :)
Happy Hanukkah, David, and Merry Christmas, too! Cheers for the New Year!
