Get Fit This Year with Video Workout Programs

Using DVD Fitness Programs like P90X to Build Muscle and Lose Weight

Rick Young
Each New Year, we watch as our friends, families, even ourselves make this resolution or that, and consistently fail to reach their goals. Fitness-related goals abound, and this year, whether you're reading this in December or in July, it's a great time to get started on building a healthy, new YOU.

One approach to fitness that is gaining popularity of late is the at-home fitness program, such as the wildly popular P90X program from Beachbody. The quality of these programs has much improved since the aerobics programs of the 70s and 80s. One of the best things about video programs is that you don't have to face the sometimes unpleasant environment of gym to be successful.

Hobbling around in front of the meat-heads and cardio-freaks, awkwardly stumbling through the first weeks or months of a new program may not be appealing to you. Additionally, it's often difficult to find time in our busy lives to get to the gym consistently. Video programs like Beachbody's cut down on the excuses, and allow you to work out on your own time, wherever you want.

There are a lot of time-related issues that can keep us from working out according to the schedules that we set forth for ourselves. Additionally, emotional factors can keep us from getting up and doing what we know needs to be done - get started. The few workouts are often the most difficult for many. New habits force us to change the way that we live. That's not an easy thing to do.

Change can hurt. Muscle soreness, new sleep patterns - there are a lot of reasons not to start at all. The point? Too bad - do it anyway. Start! There's a video program out there to match the abilities, goals, and personality of everyone - and they're not that hard to find. The reason I recommend Beachbody products are twofold. First, they offer a broad range of products from a single, convenient source. Second, they are incredibly popular right now, so you might even have a friend or family member who can loan you the program you want to try, or else share the cost.

What about the cost? Consider the cost of a gym membership versus that of a one-time video program purchase. I won't bother to run the numbers for you - the quickest of investigations will show you the truth. Working out at home, using professional-grade tools, is both more convenient AND cheaper than going to the gym.

If you're unfit and unhappy with yourself, why not start making changes now? What's holding you back? The best time to take positive action in your life is always right now, and doing something is always better than doing nothing. It's true - any program you choose will work for you, as long as you work for it, so get going.
