Get Glowing Skin with a Homemade Pumpkin Face Mask

Recycle Leftover Pumpkin Carvings for Your Skin

Joyce Hewitt
October is a month of festivals, ghosts, gorgeous oranges, yellows, reds, and seasonal vegetables like squash and pumpkins. You will find everything from pumpkin flavored iced lattes, pumpkin bread, and pumpkin ravioli at your local supermarkets.. If you will be carving a pumpkin with your family this October, don't throw out the best part, the pumpkin pulp. The seeds make a wonderful toasted snack after heating them in the oven, and the pulp can be pureed with a few other items from your kitchen to create a treat for your skin! Pumpkin not only tastes delicious, but is full of rich vitamins. The bright orange flesh of the pumpkin is an indicator of its vitamin A content. Vitamin A is great for the complexion, containing natural active enzymes that will exfoliate your skin and add a beautiful glow. For glowing skin this Autumn recycle your left over pumpkin carvings and create your own pumpkin face mask with only a few ingredients:

DIY materials: raw pumpkin, organic raw honey, plain organic yogurt, blender, refrigerator, and microwave.

Gather your ingredients:

1 cup raw pumpkin (pumpkin carving leftovers)
2 tablespoons organic raw honey
ΒΌ cup plain organic yogurt
add a handful of pumpkin seeds (for a pumpkin face scrub)

After you gather your ingredients you will need a blender, or food processor to create a pumpkin puree. Blend the raw pumpkin, honey, and plain organic yogurt until it is nice and smooth. For dry skin chill your pumpkin face mask in the refrigerator for 5-10 minutes. For oily skin try warming your mixture in the microwave for 10 seconds. The warmth will help to open the pores and draw out impurities. When applying your pumpkin face mask, its a good idea to be in the shower, so you avoid making a mess. Wash your skin with a little warm water to open your pores, and then pat a thick layer of your homemade pumpkin mask all over your face, and neck. Let sit for 5-10 minutes, then rinse. The pumpkin facial mask is a great boost to prepare your skin for the harsh winter weather.
