The secret of a healthy heart is a 'good exercise routine'. Anyone, who does not have adequate exercise or good physical activity and leads a sedentary lifestyle, is at a risk of acquiring heart disease at some part of their life. The word exercise here does not mean committed effort like some push ups or anything of that sort; exercise in this context relates to be physically active.
Instead of driving to the market why not choose to walk! Again, you do not need to walk to your closest gym in order to shed some pounds or build great muscles. Today's lifestyle has made humans more sedentary in their daily habits and this is a great reason for the absence of physical activity.
How does exercise help in prevention of a heart disease?
Being physically active and exercising reduces the chances of a heart disease to half. This is possible due to the following reasons:
- The Blood Pressure is lowered.
- The circulation of HDL cholesterol is fostered and its level increased, thereby transporting the fats from the heart to the liver for further processing.
- Reduces the amount of harmful LDL cholesterol which forms fatty deposits in the heart and arteries leading to angina (chest pain).
- Blood circulation is greatly enhanced due to the prevention of formation of blood clots.
- Enhances fat loss.
- Reduces body weight. Muscle mass is built.
- Hormones like endrophins are released which has a positive impact on the person's mental health.
How much exercise is necessary?
As stated earlier, vigorous exercise is not that necessary, but simple physical activities like walking and doing some very basic physical activities can do the job. A simple 30-40 minute walk thrice a week is ample in reducing the risk of a heart disease. However, in high risk groups, exercising for 30 minutes at least 5 times a week (if not daily) is necessary.
How can the activity levels be increased?
The activity levels can be increased by following some simple steps as stated below:
Taking a walk to the store instead of driving.
Get off the bus a stop earlier and walk the rest of the way that will save a few pennies and help you save a lot by reducing the risk of a heart disease (That would had cost much more during treatment).
Instead of using the elevator use the stairs.
Apart from the above, a lot more steps can be invented by you, so think over it. Gear up and exercise, since for a healthy heart ample exercise is necessary. Just manage around 30-40 minutes from your tight schedule, and remain healthy always.
