Get into Hockey Pants

Ice Hockey Pants

Ice Hockey pants were developed close to a century ago. Originally called "hockey knickers," they were padded shorts with bits of cane added to provide stronger protection. They were worn with leather shin guards and knee pads, but unlike today's pads the were held in place with large metal buckles which proved painful in some situations. Modern day hockey pants, also known as breezers, have a lot of science behind their design. They reach from waist to knee. The layout and amount of padding differs depending on whether the player is a forward or defender. The pants generally come in one piece. Common features are a lace-up fly, back supporting material, and a strap belt which reinforces the pants. Some players also use suspenders to hold up their breezers. These pants are the first piece of a hockey player's armor.

Reebok Hockey Pants

Reebok is a very popular producer of sports equipment in general and hockey pants in particular. Their most popular pant product is the Reebok 6k Hockey Pant. It features JDP hip caps which diffuse the impact and any blow mid-blow reducing hip injuries. It's inner leg zipper makes for easy adjustments in the locker room. They've also designed a new kidney protection system that improves agility while keeping kidneys safer. The strap belt is sewn inside the pants to allow for a better look and fit. They have a two-piece flexing tailbone support. Special padding that lines the short rejects any moisture which keeps the pants dry during a heavy game. The 6k also has a uniquely high spine protector, reducing injury to the lower back. Lastly, they have a nylon shell construction that ensures enhanced durability. The Reebok 6k is a safe bet for most players and comes in adult and junior sizes.

Rebellion Hockey Pants

Rebellion most popular brand of hockey pants is the 7500 pant. It comes in blue, navy blue, red, and green shades. It features a state of the art two-belt tightening system to reduce the need for suspenders. A leg zipper lets you make minor adjustment throughtout the game. The back protection system is built in an ergodynamic design, protection the back while supporting natural posture. This pant also offers floating spinal protection which relieves the pressure skating puts on the back. A knit inseam and crotch keeps the 7500 from ripping out at an inconvenient time. There's a removable shell that can be worn for an extra layer of protection. Rebellion's 7500 is a great pant for hard players or for people looking for more protection from their pant.
