Get Involved for Absolutely Incredible Kid Day

Absolutely Incredible Kid Day is March 19. Never heard of it? It's the equivalent of Mother's Day or Father's Day, but for kids. It was started by a company called Camp Fire USA, a youth development organization. Think you want to get involved with getting this holiday celebrated in your community? Here are a few ways.

1.Tell everyone! Most people haven't heard of Absolutely Incredible Kid Day, but many parents would be glad to participate! You can tell people at work, or contact your kids' school about it, put up fliers, anything and everything to let people know. If you're able, you can even organize some sort of Kids Carnival with a school or local kid's organization. Many local newspapers also allow free Community ads. Contact yours to find out. Also, Camp Fire USA has many chapters around the country, and you might be able to partner with them for local events as well. Their website has contact information and a way to search for local representation.

2.Camp Fire USA suggests that you can adopt kids, too. Not a real adoption, but there are shelters and boys and girls homes for foster kids who might go without any recognition on Absolutely Incredible Kid Day. Also, children's hospitals are full of kids who could use the cheering up. Make cards, and if you're a parent, have your kids make them too. Not only will they make another kid feel better, but they'll be BEING Absolutely Incredible Kids, too!

3.Plan an activity. Even on a small scale, like having your kids' friends over, or maybe a class at a local school. If you're a teacher, you can write one for your class, and if you don't have kids but you have nieces or nephews, or even just friends with kids, some of them are bound to be Absolutely Incredible! I don't think gifts are even necessary on this sort of holiday, since the purpose is more recognition than anything else.

4.Write a letter. There's stationary and a whole section on Camp Fire USA's website devoted to writing a letter to your Absolutely Incredible Kid. It doesn't have to be long, but it will be appreciated! You could even have your kids write letters to each other. It will be a nice change from fighting (if they fight a lot), and let them know that they all still love each other. Even if your kids are grown up, you can still write letters to them. They're just bigger kids, that's all.

Happy Absolutely Incredible Kid Day!
