SM-1- Introduce yourself.
CH-I'm Carolina Hoyos--originally from DC but spent 4 years in NYC, which I feel has earned me a badge of honor! Now I'm in LA, the land of dreams...
SM- From NYC to LA! How did you get into the music industry?
CH-I've been playing piano since I was 2, and my piano teacher had me competing regularly (I have a few trophies.) I booked my 1st local TV show around 10 that focused on kids who perform. In one episode I played a piano that had been autographed by Elton John, amongst others. It was actually quite tacky with all these signatures all over that thing.
SM- What is a pet peeve of yours and why?
CH-I can't stand people who feign their supposed superiority over others. I believe everyone is equal and no one should be thought of as a god (ie. rock stars, movie stars, etc.) Being a fan of someone who's work you admire is one thing, but thinking they deserve special treatment for it--I don't think that's right.
SM- Good for you! I like your style, have you ever been star struck while collaborating with another musician?
CH- I actually jammed on some Janis (Joplin) and Beatles tunes with Andrew Farris of INXS but didn't know it, until after he left the birthday party we were at. I'm pretty oblivious when it comes to that sort of stuff. I did, however, act like a schoolgirl when I met Led Zeppelin... all giggly and smiley.
SM- Oh wow! I LOVE Led Zeppelin, what a lucky chica you are! So, what are you doing now, where can we catch you perform?
CH-I've had the good fortune of working steadily as an actor lately, so I haven't been able to complete my new album. I just finished starring in the indie MY COUNTRY that should be ready for the festival circuit this Winter. And while I race against the clock (next film shoots in June) I will be releasing a single and a video early this Summer. I'm hoping to finish the new solo album for an early Fall release.
ave you ever been star struck while collaborating with another musician?
SM- How exciting! Sounds like you have a lot of things on your plate.
There you have it! As you can see, Carolina not only has a beautiful voice, but a beautiful personality. Feel free to visit her myspace http://www.myspace.com/carolinah
