Get to Know the Chicago Rush: WR/DB Vic Hall

Vic Hall Can Do it All

Eric R. Ivie
Chicago Rush WR/DB "Do It All" Vic Hall has had a spectacular start to his Arena Football League career so far in 2011. In a league that emphasizes speed and versatility, Hall has the skill set to become a star.

So who is Vic Hall?

High School

Born September 24, 1986, in Lynchburg, Virginia, Vicqual Renee Hall played football, baseball, and basketball for Gretna (VA) High School. Gretna, which lost 44 straight games from 1991 to 1996, won the 2003 state championship to cap an undefeated season with Hall at quarterback. He accounted for 4,434 total yards that season and was responsible for 56 touchdowns.

Gretna turned right around and repeated the feats of an undefeated season and a state championship in 2004, with Hall picking up 4,852 total yards--a state record that stood for six years--and being responsible for 65 touchdowns, good for second-best in state history.

Hall still holds the state record for most total yards in his career (13,770), and his career passing yards (8,731) and passing touchdowns (115) are both good for third-best in state history. He was named first team All-State quarterback three times in his career, earned State Player of the Year honors in 2003 and 2004, and was named as a SuperPrep All-American.

College

Hall played his college football with the Virginia Cavaliers, red-shirting his 2005 season. In 2006, Coach Al Groh moved Hall to cornerback and special teams. In a particularly stellar game against Pitt in 2007, he earned ACC Specialist of the Week honors.

Hall was named team captain in 2008, starting 11 games at cornerback and the season finale vs. Virginia Tech at quarterback. He earned the team's John Polzer Award in 2008 for his ability, sportsmanship, and character.

He started the 2009 season opener against William & Mary at quarterback, but Groh moved him back to cornerback, and then to wide receiver, after that game. He also returned punts that season.

Hall graduated from the University of Virginia with a bachelors degree in Anthropology.

Professional

Hall spent some time in training camp with the Chicago Bears and the New York Jets before ultimately signing with the Chicago Rush in November of 2010.

In the first game of the season with the Rush , the 5'10" 190-lb. Hall racked up six tackles, an assist, and two pass breakups against Milwaukee. He also had an interception negated by a penalty.

As the team's holder against Philadelphia in Week Two , he improvised on a high snap during an extra point attempt, showing his athletic ability as he zig-zagged through defenders and scored a two-point conversion. That play, combined with his nine tackles, three assists, interception returned for 19 yards, and pass break-up at defensive back earned him Defensive Player of the Game honors.

The Rush take to the home turf at Allstate Arena on Friday, March 25, at 7:30pm Central Time against the San Jose SaberCats. Keep your eyes peeled for #4, Vic Hall, and watch him do it all.
