Get the Look for Under $5: Lavender Eyes

A Cheap and Easy Way to Spring Up Your Makeup

Alexis Valentine
Get in the mood for spring by dressing up your eyes in vibrant, playful colors. This look is great for anyone, but especially so for those with brown eyes because the main color is purple. Purples are a great way to make brown eyes pop, and it would go great with any day outfit, spring or not. All the products I'll be using in this look is by E.L.F. cosmetics, but use what you have. E.L.F. is famous for their one dollar products, so this look is easily achieved for under $5.

First off, the products I'll be using are E.L.F's Brightening Eye color quad in 'Silver Lining,' their black liquid eyeliner, Brightening Eyeliner in 'Gilded,' and black dramatic false lashes. Mascara is optional. I don't usually wear mascara when I'm wearing false lashes because I want to be able to reuse them a few more times. Before applying any makeup make sure your canvas is clean and prepped. So don't forget to prime your eyelids. One of my favorite eyeshadow primer is Urban Decay's Primer Potion. Eyeshadow bases are the best way to make your shadows last longer, minimize creasing, and gets the shadows to show up truer to color.

Now, start by applying the pinkish-purple shade from the E.L.F. 'Silver Lining' quad to your inner corners moving towards the middle of your eyelids using a shadow brush. You can actually use the sponge tip applicator that comes with the eyeshadow quad to achieve this look, but I prefer using brushes. I favor my fluffy shadow brush because I can use it for the entire look; no need to switch brushes. The next step is to take the deep purple shade and apply it to the outer corners of your lids inwards, moving towards the middle. Blend slightly where the two colors meet and along the crease to soften any harsh lines. If you're using one brush to do this look you'll want to clean off any excess dark shadows before the next step.

Once your brush is clean pick up some of the creamy white shadow and apply it along your brow bones, just beneath your brows. This will highlight your eyebrows and make the colors pop even more. The smoky grey shadow will go along the top lash line. Do so by using a flat liner brush, and then going back to smudge it just a tad. Now wipe off that liner brush, take the purple shadow and apply it along your lower lash line starting from the outside and going in three-fourths of the way. You're almost done.

The last few steps is to apply liner and your false lashes. Start off by applying your false lashes. I prefer demi lashes because they give my eyes a sultry shape that's feminine but not over the top. Now apply your liquid eyeliner along your top lash line, and finish it off by apply the Brightening Eyeliner in 'Gilded' along your waterline. Your eyes are now complete.

I would recommend peachy or pink lips to compliment your eyes, and a soft touch of glowing blush along your cheeks to give you an overall freshness. Throw on a cute spring dress and you're ready for anything the new season has to offer. Well, you'll look the part anyway.
