Get Lucky with Loverboy: Rockin the 80s

Flashy in Leather and Driving Girls Wild: Loverboy

Kelli Perez
All you 80s music fans remember Loverboy? Oh, I loved these guys, especially, the lead singer, Mike Reno. Watching him strut around in those red, leather pants with his boyish grin, he was the hot, eighties, poster boy. My favorite Loverboy album was Get Lucky. I still have the vinyl and I like Working for the Weekend, When It's Over, Lucky Ones and Take Me to the Top.

It was fun seeing Loverboy in concert. I was 15. This would have made Loverboy in their late 20s. They sang the songs on their Get Lucky album. Working for the Weekend and Take Me to the Top made the crowd go crazy. The most memorable part of the concert was when this guy, who was like 6'3" noticed I was struggling to see Loverboy on stage. The guy offered his shoulders to me. As soon as he lifted me up, Mike Reno and Paul Dean noticed me, smiled and raised their eyebrows in a flirty way. On the guy's shoulders, the view was amazing.

Every time, I listen to Loverboy's Get Lucky album, I reminisce about that concert. Mike Reno paraded around on stage in his tight, leather pants belting out When It's Over. The range of his voice was fantastic and he sounded just like he does on the Get Lucky album. Reno's singing talents were genuinely superb. Loverboy was such a talented group of guys and their music was filled with catchy rhythms that made me want to dance.
