Get Your Mailing List Subscribers to Open Up Your Emails

Idalia Benavides
Are you a blog or a website owner? Well if you are then you probably have a mailing list for your site readers, to allow them to get more information, special offers, coupons, or just news directly to their email every once in a while right? Well if you have a mailing list and you're not really seeing any response after sending mailings it's probably because your emails aren't getting opened. In this article I'm going to give you 5 tips that you should take into consideration and then put into action in order to get your mailing list subscribers to open up your emails each time you send them one.

- Explain what you offer where you offer the subscriptions.
The first and best way to get the people you're sending emails to, to open them is to let them know what you're going to be sending them right as they fill out the subscription box/es. You should include how often you will send them email and what that email will entail. If you're offering special offers, coupons, informative articles, or just updated news then let them know there. That will help you to make them curious and to make them wait for what you're sending and therefore ensuring that they will open up the emails you send them.

- Send email to the ones who want it only.
The way to get people to keep opening your emails is to only send emails to those who want to receive them. If you have people who have requested to unsubscribe and you're still sending them email then you are doing wrong. This is only going to get them to get mad, not go to your site or even open your mail at all, and they can report you as a spammer, which can then get you into big trouble. Make sure to manage your subscriptions and un-subscriptions constantly to ensure that you're only sending email to those who want it.

- Let them know how often you will send them.
If you let your customers or subscribers know how often they can expect your email newsletter then you can be sure that they will be waiting for it and therefore will open it. If you send out a weekly newsletter, let them know that and they will get used to opening an email from you once a week. Do the same if it's monthly. A great thing to do is to be consistent when sending emails monthly. Don't stop sending emails one month because that might make your customers forget about you.

- Use their names.
If you do not know how to send out emails to your subscribers using their names then don't worry about it. But almost everyone who sees an email that's personalized for them will open it to see what it's about. Try to use their name in the subject headline or right at the beginning of the newsletter. If you would like to learn how to do this, go to Google and make a search for it.

- Use subject headlines to let them know what the email is about.
To get an email open you first have to get them with the subject headline. If you're offering coupons, e-books, or anything else, let them know in the subject headline. Don't try to come up with something fancy or funny, just tell them what they will find inside and you'll see you'll be getting your emails opened a lot more.
