Get Married in a Supermarket
Weddings Can Be Held Anyplace. On the Beach, in a Hot Air Balloon or in a Supermarket
But how many have been married in the place they do their weekly food shopping and get married in a supermarket? It could be done quite easily.
One day I noticed a man and woman walking into the supermarket They appeared to be together. Later, as I was walking up and down the aisle doing my food shopping, I realized that they did not know each other. It just seemed that they did.
The following week, when I again went food shopping, I noticed the two sitting at the food table in the corner of the supermarket. They shared a slice of chocolate cake while sipping on a cup of hot coffee. They were engrossed in each other and did not notice me sitting at the table next to them.
At times they sat on the bench near the check-out line. I noticed them holding hands while pushing their food-filled shopping cart out the door of the supermarket.
They were an elderly couple who appeared to be in their 70's. Their face had wrinkles and he stooped when walking. They looked in each others eyes as they did their weekly shopping.
One day I noticed a ring on the finger of her left hand. They were engaged to be married.
The supermarket employees buzzed about the elderly couple who met at the supermarket, got engaged and were going to marry. It is not every day that an event like this occurs. Especially since the couple met and fell in love at the supermarket.
A few months later I read a notice on the Bulletin board of the supermarket. It appeared to be a wedding invitation. It was embossed and professionally printed. It was large for all to see.
I smiled when I read that the couple that had met at this supermarket were planning on getting married and holding their wedding at the supermarket where they met. I thought that this sounded extremely romantic.
They had contacted the executive office of the supermarket who listened to their story and agreed to allow them to hold the wedding at the place where they met and also would take care of the entire expense.

The Wine manager picked out a sweet grape wine to serve that was alcohol free.
Wedding Cake For the Wedding
The Bakery Department created a beautifully decorated Tier Wedding Cake. It was decorated and placed in the front of the supermarket on top of a table covered with a white tablecloth. It was decorated with small flower petals and a picture of the Bride and Groom.
Carpeted Aisle To Walk DOWN For the Wedding Ceremony
The place was ready for the wedding. There was a carpet placed on the floor leading to the rear of the supermarket. The area was surrounded by flowers. The Minister was standing there, as were the parents, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and close friends of the couple.
Wedding Vows - They Were Man & Wife
The supermarket filled with the sounds of music. The door opened from the front of the Manager's office in the front of the Supermarket. The couple walked down the aisle. She wore a beautiful wedding gown. her hand through his arm holding her bouquet of flowers in both hands. They both had smiles on their faces. She was giggling. It was a happy moment for both.
The next day the newspapers reported the story - including pictures of the Wedding and told the story about how the new Bride & Groom Met at the supermarket.
Their honeymoon cruise was paid for by the supermarket chain.

This reminds me of an observation I made at a local grocery store. A guy was obviously trying to pick up a woman using a cheesy line. He asked her a question about a product and then asked her for her phone number in case the recipe didn't work out. She didn't give it to him. In fact she mentioned her husband, but throughout the store I noticed he was following her and talking. It seemed she was trying to be kind, but the poor woman probably just wanted to get away! LOL
How very different; I wish them much happiness~
Thank you for sharing this!
What fun...well done Sondra!
not so sure I would want to get married in a supermarket--what happens if a food is going bad. I'm a vegetarian,so we'd have to get married in the produce or dairy aisle. Where do you put the guests? What happens if someone faints--CLEAN UP ON AISLE 5!!? :P~ net article :)
What fun - great article!
Great topic...just curious...why is "supermarket" italicized throughout the article?
That's a beautiful story. You don't find many businesses hosting a wedding at its own expense.
What a great love story. Thanks for sharing!
