Get a Mechano-Hog in World of Warcraft for Less

The Mechano-Hog is one of the coolest rides in World of Warcraft. This mount, created by engineers separates the rich and elite from the average player. At a cost of 15,000 to 18,000 gold pieces, the Mechano-Hog is a mount that few can afford and is rarely ever seen. When you ride into town on one of these cycles, heads turn and everyone will want to party with you to take a turn riding it.

Aside from looking cool, the Mechano-Hog is great for giving a friend a life, exploring areas for achievements or taking a low level alt (alternative character) somewhere. There's nothing quite as fun having a friend ride along with you shot gun style and no other mount makes you look this good. My guide will show you how to obtain a Mechano-Hog cheaply and how to mass produce them to sell to other players.

To make a Mechano-Hog you need to have 450 Engineering Skill and Exalted Reputation with the Horde Expedition. Engineering skill is easier and less expensive to get if you also have mining, either on the same character or an alternative character. Getting exalted reputation with the Horde Expedition is easy to do at level 80. For example, all you need to do is do heroic and regular Wrath of the Lich King Dungeons and you will steadily gain reputation with the Horde Expedition as long as you are not wearing a tabard for one of the other factions.

To make a Mechano-Hog, you need to have the following materials:

72 Titanium Ore, 12 Eternal Fire, 12 Eternal Earth, 12 Eternal Shadow, 40 Cobalt Ore and
2 Arctic Fur

You will also need to raise 12,500 gold pieces for salvaged iron golem parts costing 3,000 gold, 8 Goblin Machined Pistons , costing 8000 and an Elementium-Plated Exhaust Pipe, costing 1500. Obtaining 12,500 gold is not difficult for a level 80 character, simply do daily quests and mine for the other materials you need. In less than two weeks you will have enough money to buy the parts for your Mechano-Hog. If you are able to raid Ulduar you can skin mobs for parts, reducing the cost.

To those who say you can't do this method, I did it twice! The very best dailies will be in Scholazar Basin and Icecrown because while doing your dailies you can also get the titanium ore and eternals you need to do your transmutes. By mining and transmuting your own materials you will save significant amounts of gold. It's true that could also farm for another week or so and earn the full 18,000 gold needed to buy the Mechano-Hog but being able to transmute and get your own materials speeds up the process of getting the Mechano-Hog, will allow you to produce Mechano-Hogs for profit or for your friends and guild.

By learning the Engineering skill, you can make your own Mechano-Hog for less money than the auction house sells them for and make extra money off gems and other eternals you find.
