Milkmakers Increase Breast Milk Production

Shirlene Alusa-Brown
Breastfeeding has been proven to be beneficial to babies. Breast milk protects babies from allergies, builds their immune system, reduces their potential to develop allergies, changes to suit their changing needs, reduces stomach infections, lowers their chances of constipation, and is easy to digest.

The breastfeeding benefits to mothers are that they develop a strong bond with their children while whittling away inches from their waist (breastfeeding has been shown to burn calories per feed).

Milkmakers is a cookie that uses oats, brewer's yeast, and flax seed to help boost breast milk production. Oats boost breastmilk supply, and provide plenty of whole grains, fiber, iron, and an abundance of healthy vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Brewer's yeast stimulates and increases the production of breastmilk and is a rich source of the B-vitamins and amino acids essential for nursing moms and their babies. Flax seed provides an abundance of omega-3 fatty acids, necessary for brain development, which can be passed from mother to baby through breastmilk. While these ingredients are great, it is the wonderful chocolate chip that pulls it all together into a tasty chocolate chip oatmeal cookie. For those mothers who are lactose intolerant, or just want to avoid dairy altogether, their is a dairy-free option.

Emily, the founder, wanted to produce something that would help enhance her milk production once she went back to work. The result was Milkmakers. Milkmakers are sold in resealable bags of 10 cookies. They need to be kept frozen until ready to eat, then you can eat them cold or warm them up in the microwave for 20 seconds. A month's supply of cookies would be 30 cookies (3 bags).
