Get More Email Signups With Website Placement Strategies
One of the quickest and easiest ways to get more names onto your list is to include signup forms on your website, and most services provide easy buttons for you to do this. But it takes more than that, and optimizing your website placement and a few other factors will go a long way towards improving your website.
First, your email signup form should be above the fold on your website. Above the fold means that users see it without needing to scroll down in their browsers, and this is where all of the most important content on your website should be, email signup form included.
Second, your email signup form should be on every page on your website. It's fine if you want to have a specific page dedicated to that, but in addition, the small button or form has to be found on each and every page on your site.
That's because you never know where people are entering your site from, what the first page they see is, or what other pages they will end up viewing before they leave. By only having your signup button on a single page or two, you're missing out on a huge opportunity to add more names to your list, simply due to the fact that most people aren't seeing the option to do so!
More Tips to Build your Email List
There are many other quick ways to acquire more email marketing leads. For example, you need to offer an incentive to people to get them to join. Believe it or not, your website visitors aren't thinking to themselves, "awesome, finally my favorite business has email updates, I would just love to join up and tell all of my friends to do the same!" If they are thinking that, congratulations, you're awesome.
But for the other 99% of businesses, that incentive will make all of the difference in the world. The incentive can be anything, ranging from exclusive sales events to subscribers, special promotions and discounts, weekly tips newsletters, free eBooks or mini reports, or anything else. Whatever might be of interest to your target audience can be used as an incentive.
You should also trim down your signup form options. Statistics show that for every question or required piece of information you call for when people join your list, you lose more potential subscribers who don't want to deal with it. So keep it to the basics, ask for their emails and their name, and then include a few essential and non-required fields at the most. You don't need their life stories, and you can swing back around to your list later to receive more information from them.
