Get the Most Out of Your Hose Reel

A hose reel is a storage tool that is used to both keep your hose organized and neatly stored when it is not in use and to make moving and positioning the hose easier to do when it is in use. There are two main kinds of hose reels that you can purchase, a hanging hose reel and a trolley hose reel.

Tip #1 - Hang a Hose Reel in Your Garage

If you live in an area where the temperature dips below freezing during the fall and winter then you need to have a place to store your hoses. Your garage is the perfect place to store your hoses in the winter as it is protected from the harshest conditions and its moisture content is lower than outside. This is why you will want to hang a hose reel in your garage, so that you can store your hoses out of the way during the winter.

Tip #2 - Use a Trolley Hose Reel for Large Spaces

If you have a large yard and you don't have underground sprinklers then you can use a hose trolley to make watering your lawn easier to do. This option allows you to easily move your hose from point to point in your yard without tangling or knotting up. This option also helps you to keep longer hoses needed for watering your yard safely stored and out of the way when not in use.

Tip #3 - Use a Trolley Hose Reel to Extend Your Hoses

Another way you can use your trolley hose reel is to help you extend your hoses. If you have a large yard that needs hose extensions for watering then you can use one or more hose trolleys to extend the hoses. For this option you will connect one hose to your water spout. This hose will be wound on a trolley hose reel. You then will connect another hose to the open end of the first hose. This extension hose will be wound on the second trolley hose wheel.

Tip #4 - Keep Your Hoses Off the Grass

One of the perks of using a hose reel is that it keeps the hose off of the grass when the hose is not in use. This not only protects your grass from damage, but it also helps to preserve the look of your yard. It keeps everything well organized and tidy.
