I went on a couple of interesting websites today : www.mcdonalds.com was the first one. Don't say no straight away, if you are willing to work this company gives training and if you have what it takes there are very good jobs available here. If you are a teenager, you'll like it there, because most of the staff are young people. The second website was: www.kfc.com. and the same story. A company with young staff and they too offer training if you want to advance yourself. www.wendys.com was also offering careers. You might have to start at the bottom of the ladder and work your way up, if you want to end up in Management. These are just three of the fast food outlets, check the others on the Internet. If you decide to go for an interview (no matter your age) ask about the training.
Even if you don't consider yourself "young" anymore I would still apply for these jobs anyway.
Another way of advancing yourself is to work for a supermarket. Not a lot of people are aware that this is a very interesting business and there is training galore. Again: ask about training and who is going to pay for it. Some people start out as check-out people but if you got what it takes to get a better job within the company, let the Manager know how you feel, and what you are prepared to do to get there.
Of course you can always start your own business. The following jobs don't look glamerous, but they pay the bills and that's what counts. Washing cars and car-grooming is hard work, but a lot of people don't have time to do it. So you do it for them. Another one is cleaning. There are two kinds of cleaning: commercial and domestic. The first one is mainly offices. And the second one is houses. In some areas it pays really well. If you like the outdoors then gardening is more your thing. Professional people who have busy lives like to come home to a clean and tidy environment and are willing to pay for it. Another service you could provide is to do all the things a busy person cannot or isn't willing to do, like taking care of the car, paying the bills, taking clothes to the dry-cleaner etc. Discuss what this person wants you to do first and the payment for your services, and put it on paper. These jobs generally require some sort of security-check, so don't be surprised when someone asks for it. If you decide to start your own business, talk to the Tax-people first; I always find them very helpful. And it's better to find out the pitfalls now than later on. Happy job-hunting!
