Get Off that Diet to Lose Weight!

Learning to Love Your Body

What do millions of people worldwide have in common? They are on a diet to lose weight. Now, what is the number one reason why the majority of these people are trying to lose weight? It's because they dislike the way they look. Finally, out of these people, what is another similarity? You guessed it, more than half of them will either cheat on their diets or simply just give up altogether without seeing any weight loss.

So what is a person to do? Surely there has to be a way to overcome these odds. Well lucky for you there is a way to successfully lose weight.

Want to know the secret? It's to STOP hating your body! Yes you are overweight, but does that make you any less of a person? Should people love you less or not respect you as much because you are heavier and haven't had success on a diet? No - and if they do, you don't need these people in your life.

What I'm suggesting is that you change your approach to weight loss and rather than going on another diet because you hate the way you look and don't feel good about yourself, eat because you respect and value your body.

Let's compare your body to a car for a second. You just purchased a brand new shiny silver Mustang and are about to drive it off the lot. The first thing you need to do is put some gas in it. What type do you chose? After spending your hard earned savings on that car I'm will to bet you are going to go for some quality fuel.

Is your body any different? Your body is possibly the greatest possession you own. Without it, well you wouldn't be here. So why are you not putting quality fuel in it? Don't you want to get the most of your body and ensure it lasts for years to come as well? I'm pretty sure most of you will agree with me that you do.

While we're on the car comparison, lets also touch on the subject of simply putting fuel into the car. Many people on diets choose to completely skip meals altogether hoping for weight loss. Look at your mustang analogy, are you going to get that car off the lot if you don't put fuel in it? I don't think so. So how do you expect to your body to run and do the things you demand of it without eating? I bet you cannot give me an answer to that one. Not eating is the best way to slow your metabolism to a halt (think of this as your car's engine) and stop any weight loss progress immediately.

Instead of focusing on a diet that is going to help you lose weight, why don't you focus on a diet that is going to increase your health and help your body function better? You will find that if you choose foods that naturally serve this purpose you are going to lose weight easily without any of that rigorous calorie or fat gram counting that makes so many people decide to quit.

Additionally, focus rather on this not as a diet, but as a lifestyle. Even if you do see success on a diet, if you think after you reach your goal weight you can just go back to your old ways, you are definitely kidding yourself. That lost weight will come racing back onto your body faster than you can imagine. After all, eating in that fashion is how you became overweight in the first place right?

So next time you are sitting down for a meal, respect your body. It does so many great things for you, even if it is overweight right now, it is still a wonderful working machine. If you treat it well, it will return the favour. If on the other hand you choose to stuff it with food that is toxic to your system such as chips, pop, fried and processed foods, then you are going to see it suffer, not only in how it looks but also in how it performs.

Get rid of that body hatred, dieting mindset once and for all and replace it with a positive image of yourself where you are constantly trying to hunt down the fuel that is best going to serve its needs. If you do this I promise that you will see far greater results than you have ever seen before. I'm not saying ban 'unhealthy' foods altogether, just keep in mind that they should be limited if you want your 'car' to run as smoothly as possible.

  • Think of your body like a car
  • Focus on nutrition rather than calories
  • Think of your eating as a lifelong change
You can still eat that piece of chocolate cake and lose weight as long as your total daily calories are still less than what you are burning off.
