Get Online Texas Website Tip: Provide Plenty of Content

Posting Relevant Information in Your Website Attracts More Customers

When it comes to search engine optimization, nothing is more obvious: The bots and spiders crawl your website but takes text and html content as priority. For example, if you try to beef up your graphics to impress your customers, it's likely that you will not rank well in search engine results. Why? It's because search engine spiders don't crawl Flash sites and images without proper alt text. In today's search engine marketing, the best way to be seen on the Internet is through great website content.

In the July issue of Get Online Texas, we are reviewing business websites in Wichita Falls, Texas. So far, when it comes to the category of great content, we found three outstanding businesses: Shoop's Termite Control, Russell's Fireworks, and Advanced Clinical Nutrition.

Shoop's Texas Termite Control

Even though the graphics are very basic, Shoop's has managed to create a website that gives so much information to the customers. The navigation is very simple and easy. The links are also organized. We don't know when Shoop's has set up their website but we know that they have been in business since 1932. Their website showcases their expertise when it comes to treating bug problems as well as the history of their business. Shoop's has peppered the site with lots of links to information that the customer can use. Their contact page is straightforward.

Russell's Fireworks

Russell Nettles did not beat around the bush with his specialty fireworks website. Every fourth of July in Wichita Falls, customers can save a lot of money by simply visiting the site. How? The coupons are displayed on the frontpage for everyone to see. By clicking on the coupon, you will be redirected to a pdf page that you can print and present at the store (Warning: pdf pages take long to load so be patient.) I suggest that you go straight to the Coupons page and click on the links so coupons can easily load on the screen. Russell also includes a page for safety rules on handling fireworks. There's plenty of information for the regular customer wanting to buy fireworks for the fourth of July celebrations.

Advanced Clinical Nutrition

On the left side of the screen, you will find a menu that will give you almost everything you need to know Dr. Donna Smith's nutrition services. I guarantee there is chock full of information it would be impossible not to figure out what to do or how to inquire about their services. My only complaint is that it would be a little less distracting if the rolling text on around the website would stay still. If this is not meant for search engine optimization, the rolling text is completely unnecessary. It's also a little weird that the links on the bottom of the menu require an authorization (username and password) to be able to access the webpage. If this is intended to be accessed only by the webmaster, we are confused why those links are posted for the customers to see anyway.

As a business owner, it is your choice whether to create a website full of graphics that are entertaining to your visitors but simply do not agree with the search engine optimization rules. My suggestion is to keep a balance between graphics and good optimized content. If you would add a bunch of pictures, make sure you add the proper alt text to make them search engine friendly.
