Get Paid to Drive with Car Wrap Advertisements

The Truth Behind the Hype

Jimmy Collins
Every morning when I take my kids to school I see the same vehicle. It's a huge Hummer and it has a car wrap advertisement on it. The advertisement is for a local nail salon and looks extremely out of place on the big gas guzzler but it is a very effective form of advertising. Why would someone wrap there Hummer with nail salon advertisements? Why money of course.

Yes there are companies out there that will pay you to have your car wrapped with their advertisements. The concept of the car wrap gained popularity in the late 1990s when billboard advertising on the highway became sparse. Companies still needed a way to reach the potential consumers as they drove off to their daily grind and thus the idea of the car wrap was conceived and excelled.

In the beginning there were many companies that participated in the car wrapping business. But as time went on the highway billboards became more available and many of the car wrapping companies went out of business for lack of advertisers. But there are still a great number of advertisers that participate in the car wrapping business and if you are lucky enough, you too can get paid to drive your car.

The concept is great when you think about it. If you have to commute in the morning and early evening anyway you might as well get paid to do so. Each company varies in what they will pay and the rate can vary according to factors like the miles you drive per month, the amount of your car that gets wrapped, and the vehicle's visibility while parked. Payment can be as high as $400 per month in some instances so you can get paid; it's just not that easy.

Here's the problem; too many cooks spoil the broth. In other words, there are far more individuals willing to pimp out their cars than there are advertisers that are participating. Any place that considers your car for a wrap campaign will also have hundreds if not thousands of other individuals interested. Being selected depends on many things.

First a company will look at the car itself. How nice is it? As I stated earlier a Hummer has the wrap I see every day. On the flip side, I don't think companies are going to pay $400 a month to someone that owns an old jalopy. Also taken into heavy consideration is the amount of miles you drive per month. The problem here is that if you are not driving at least 700 miles or more per month you probably won't get a second look. You also stand a better chance of being selected if you live in a densely populated area such as a college town where lots of people will see the advertisement all day long.

There are a number of companies online that will take you registration information for free. Obviously if you want to increase your chances of selection, register with multiple companies. While the chances of being selected are slim, they are better odds than Vegas offers you. Besides, if you do get selected you will actually get paid to drive your car. A few minutes online registering could essentially make your car payment for you in the end.

They are screwing over the person doing all the work at only $400 per month. I made more than that when I worked part-time at a pizza parlor making minimum wage.

$400 dollars a month? that's about $13 dollars a day. You can make more with a bicycle on a paper route
